Charlie Meadows served as the District 2 Logan County Commissioner from 2023 to 2025. Before taking office he chaired the Oklahoma Conservative Political Action Committee and published a widely distributed conservative voter guide known as Charlie's Picks. He lost his August 2024 Republican primary and runoff to Guthrie's Floyd Coffman, a race that included an anonymous "dark money" mail campaign targeting Meadows over a tax-increment-finance (TIF) district proposal he authored.

Wind energy and infrastructure votes

Meadows repeatedly voted to advance Invenergy's "Wagon Wheel" wind turbine project in northern Logan County, including road use agreements and numerous road-crossing permits, despite having publicly opposed subsidies for wind energy development in a 2014 newsletter written while he chaired the Oklahoma Conservative Political Action Committee. On at least two occasions he split his vote on grouped permit items, supporting Invenergy's crossings while separately voting against road-crossing permits for Cox Communications fiber lines, even when none of the Cox crossings fell within his own district.

Fiscal proposals

Meadows cast a rare dissenting vote against $616,000 in federal housing funds for a Habitat for Humanity-linked rehabilitation project, citing concerns about federal overspending and the national debt. Less than 48 hours after losing his 2024 runoff, he introduced an unannounced $14 million countywide sales tax increase, which fellow commissioners rejected citing poor timing. He was also a longtime advocate for establishing TIF districts in Logan County, an idea tracing back to a 2014 controversy over a Love's Travel Stop development; the plan became a defining issue in his 2024 defeat and drew the anonymous mail campaign against him. After leaving office, Meadows continued to press successor Floyd Coffman to revive the TIF proposal.

Open Meetings Act advocacy

Meadows was a vocal advocate for exempting county commissioners from Oklahoma's Open Meetings Act, meeting with a state representative and roughly ten other county commissioners from around the state to gauge support and consulting the commission's paid lobbyist on strategy.
