The Logan County Office Expansion Project is a multi-phase plan, funded largely with federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars, to purchase and renovate the state's former Division Street Department of Human Services (DHS) building as new county office space, while abandoning the county's office annex and reconsidering the future of an underused six-story county building.

Timeline

Commissioners unanimously approved the plan's first $2.1 million component in February 2024, with the county required to encumber its ARPA funds by the end of the year or return them to the federal government. Engineering estimates put the combined renovation costs at more than $6.8 million against roughly $6 million remaining in the county's ARPA account, not including the $2.1 million purchase price. Timberlake Construction was awarded a $3.091 million renovation contract, with subcontractor bids approved in multiple rounds through late 2024. By January 2025, project overseer Craig Yaden reported that interior demolition was underway, a calculation error had reduced projected costs by $200,000, and the project remained on schedule for completion by July 2025. Once complete, the building is expected to house the offices of the commissioners, county clerk, assessor, and treasurer, freeing courthouse space for expanded district court operations.
