According to a report issued yesterday, from NonDoc, State Senator Regina Goodwin , a Democrat from Tulsa was involved in a traffic stop in Tulsa earlier this month that escalated after she declined to provide her driver’s license to a Tulsa County sheriff’s deputy.

The stop was initiated after Goodwin allegedly failed to obey two stop signs, but she contested the deputy's claims and refused multiple requests to show identification. The interaction, captured on body camera footage, lasted approximately 30 minutes before Goodwin was ultimately cited and allowed to leave the scene.

Throughout the encounter, Goodwin expressed concerns about the reason for the stop and questioned the deputy’s actions. The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office maintained that the traffic stop was conducted appropriately and that Goodwin's refusal to comply complicated the situation. Officials stated that all individuals are legally required to present identification during traffic stops, regardless of their public office.

Goodwin has stated that she will challenge the citation in court.
