- Press 1 — The newsroom Reporters and editors. Anything about a story we have run, or one we should.
- Press 9 — The tip line A private line with its own voicemail, for something you want us to look into.
- Press 3 — Billing Memberships, receipts and anything to do with an account.
- Press 7 — The extension Rings a reporter directly rather than a desk.
- Press 0 — The operator If none of the above is right, or you would rather just talk to somebody.
You can also text that number. Texts come to the newsroom and are read by a person; nothing is answered automatically.

The tip line has its own voicemail. If you would rather we did not have your number, withhold it — a message with no way to call back is still a message, and we would rather have it than not.

What happens when you get in touch
- A person reads it or listens to it. Nothing here is answered by a machine.
- If you are telling us about something we got wrong, it goes to an editor, and corrections are made openly rather than quietly.
- If you are giving us a tip, you decide the terms before you tell us anything — on the record, on background, or off it. We write those terms down and we keep to them. They are set out in our creed.
- We do not sell or publish your contact details, and getting in touch does not sign you up to anything. What else happens to them is set out in our privacy policy.
