A viral tweet from longtime political operative and strategist Roger Stone has caught the attention of Oklahoma's grassroots social media world with a tantalizing hint at corruption involving an Oklahoma congressman, an Oklahoma tribal entity, and cheating at Oklahoma casinos.

Stone, a longtime Donald Trump associate who hosts The StoneZone on WABC Radio and frequently appears on prominent independent media podcasts, recently tweeted:

Stone appears to reference a previous tweet, which went mostly unnoticed at the time, sent on December 14, 2024. That tweet read:

"One Native American Indian Tribe was shielded by the Biden DOJ in a huge multi-million dollar Casino skimming operation #Oklahoma"

That lightly read tweet received just 21,000 impressions.

Stone's most recent tweet, however, has performed far better. At the time of this writing, it has racked up more than three-quarters of a million direct views and has been reposted and amplified through an array of Oklahoma grassroots accounts.

Stone, whose political resume dates back to the Nixon administration, has worked with Donald Trump since the 1980s and has deep ties to the casino industry through past work as a lobbyist and operative. In 2000, Stone consulted on an anti-tribal-casino campaign to block the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe’s proposed casino in New York’s Catskills—reportedly to prevent the tribe from drawing customers away from Trump’s Atlantic City, New Jersey casino.

While the Oklahoma congressman referenced in Stone's tweet remains unknown, Stone has used the X platform to repeatedly criticize Oklahoma’s 4th District Congressman and Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, Tom Cole.

Cole is known for his membership in, and advocacy for, the Chickasaw Nation—proprietors of the world’s largest casino, WinStar.

In May 2024, Stone published a series of tweets across several days chiding Cole for his perceived friendship with controversial California Senator Adam Schiff. He cited a past interview in which Schiff purportedly called Cole his “favorite Republican congressman.”

Stone capped off the May 2024 tweetstorm by calling Cole a “drunken RINO grifter.”

Stone’s tweets came as Cole was being challenged in a Republican primary by fellow Republican Paul Bondar. Cole defeated Bondar after obtaining Trump’s endorsement, even going so far as to place Trump’s endorsement on his campaign signage.

Stone’s two casino-related tweets also appear to coincide with notable moments of time in Cole’s role as Appropriations Chair.

In December 2024, Cole, in that role, appeared set to advance a pork-filled continuing budget resolution. That effort was scaled back soon after Stone's tweet and after Elon Musk and the then-nascent Doge Project brought MAGA attention to the plan and appeared to force the House to pivot to a less expensive approach.

Stone’s most recent tweet came as a key Trump administration official leveled sharp criticism at congressional appropriators. The Trump administration has reportedly struggled to convince lawmakers to adopt even a portion of the DOGE cuts on a permanent basis. Speaking on the All-In Podcast, David Sacks — the administration’s point man on AI and crypto — expressed his frustration as he described how members of Congress, potentially including Rep. Tom Cole, the House’s lead appropriator, were advancing massive pork-laden spending bills that could undercut the intended impact of the DOGE program.

As the appropriations process unfolds, Oklahoma’s grassroots activists are certain to keep a close eye on Stone’s X feed. If his tweetstorm ignites, the fallout could threaten the career of the state’s second-longest-serving and most powerful congressman — and shake public confidence in one of Oklahoma’s most lucrative industries.
